Kaapse Stories

Richard Loring, producer of internationally-acclaimed African Footprint and his friend and business colleague, Roland Seidel, were thrilled when they found the space on the corner of Glengariff and Main Roads in Sea Point, where they could create a venue, similar to Richard’s successful Sound Stage in Johannesburg, to showcase the diverse tastes and cultures that Cape Town has to offer....

We were invited by Roland to join him last Saturday to enjoy an evening of entertainment and....entertaining it was!!!! we had a blast....

INTAKA ISLAND....who knew!!!

Earlier this week I learned from one of my favorite blogger about INTAKA ISLAND....

Who knew that only 7 km away from Cape Town, in the middle of Century City  is a Bird Paradise and Eco- Centre with 313 species of indigenous plants and over 120 species of birds?
So I sent Vesper and Habibah on an adventure.....
They thoroughly enjoyed their afternoon in the sun.....
Enjoyed a ride on the Grand Canal...

Did some bird watching!.
And all of this for R30 !!!

Intaka Island is open to visitors 364 days a year .

Winter Months (May - September): 07h30 - 17h30
Summer Months (October – April): 07h30 – 19h00

Entrace Fee is R10 per adult or R30 if you do the Boat/Eco-Centre combo.

Hangover lunch??.....Cafe Dijon!!!

You will not easily stumble upon Cafe Dijon unless you purposely go and find it...

This "brand new" Bistro is located in the Rockwell Building in Greenpoint (right across from the Cape Quarter) and although service was slow on Sunday (mainly because the kitchen was slow!), it was a great place to have a very lazy (over 3 hours!) Sunday Lunch!

The food was what you expect from a BISTRO with some classic dishes like snails, steak tartare, French Onion soup and apparently a very good steak... from my side I can confirm that the chips and the onion rings were.....worth the visit! !!!

I think these make great gifts for our friends overseas who always prefer something "African" !

You can find them at:
Palmyra Junction Shopping Centre
Open daily 9am - 6pm Mondays - Saturdays.
